We honor two presidents’ birthdays in the month of February: Washington’s birthday (February 22nd) and Lincoln’s birthday (February 12th).

The president’s family is called the First Family and his wife is called the First Lady. The First Family lives in the White House located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. (District of Columbia).

The president’s airplane is called Air Force One. It has an office, a shower and a dining room big enough for 100 people. It can refuel in flight. The presidential helicopter is called Marine One.

A president’s term in office is four years. A president running for reelection is called the incumbent.

Mount Rushmore is a mountain in South Dakota, U.S.A. It is a national memorial carved with the faces of four U.S. presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt.

Theodore Roosevelt was the 20th president of the United States. His nickname was Teddy. Roosevelt had the teddy bear named for him after he spared the life of a bear cub during a hunting trip.

The U.S. Mint produces coins for our currency. Abraham Lincoln is pictured on the penny, Thomas Jefferson on the nickel, Franklin D. Roosevelt on the dime, George Washington on the quarter.

Abraham Lincoln is pictured on the five-dollar bill. The Lincoln Memorial is on the back of the bill. It is a monument in Washington that shows an American president sitting in a huge armchair. Alexander Hamilton is pictured on the ten-dollar bill. He was the secretary of treasury for George Washington. Andrew Jackson is pictured on the twenty-dollar bill. The White House is on the back of the bill. Ulysses S. Grant is pictured on the fifty-dollar bill.

States. He was assassinated in 1963. The JFK airport in
New York is named after him.
