USHER'S
INTERVIEW WITH RABBI JANOWSKI

Usher Bistritz: Why did you change the grades on the report card?
Rabbi Janowski: I felt that the parents did not have a clear understanding of what and\all these things (the grades) meant.

Usher Bistritz: How do you think this school is doing on the InfoQuest?
Rabbi Janowski: I think it’s great! I think the kids are actually learning information…

Usher Bistritz: How do you feel we are going to do on the Spelling Bee?
Rabbi Janowski: I haven’t heard the kids spell yet. How do you think they will do?
Usher Bistritz: I don’t know. I think we are going to do good.
Rabbi Janowski: Good!

Usher Bistritz: My class and I were wondering… Why do we have to stay till 5?
Rabbi Janowski: We feel that as you grow older, the amount of time you spend on your Torah, needs to be increased, as for, I”H you follow in Mechina or in other schools that have yeshiva programs, you will find yourself being in school till 6 or sometimes even longer than that. And I think that we need to increase the day to learn more torah and a decrease in your secular studies gives you a chance as a bridge to prepare for the much longer hours that you will have elsewhere.

Usher Bistritz:If the 6th grade boys are staying until 5, don’t you think they should have a bit more recess?
Rabbi Janowski:I was never approached with the issue. But if in fact that it is an issue, we can study it and see if there is a need for it. But this is the first I hear that there is a complaint or specific request on recess.

Usher Bistritz: How do you feel about being a Principal? Is it hard?
Rabbi Janowski:There is a lot of pressure to make sure things happen. There is a lot of pressure to make sure everything is going smoothly. Everyone listening makes the job easier. You will see the role playing comes much later on.
